Elon University Student Union Board Reveals Artists for Spring Show

By Kellye Coleman

Elon University’s Student Union Board (SUB) revealed the artists to perform at the May 6, 2011 spring show during Saturday night’s Elon vs. Appalachian State basketball game.

A short video on the jumbotron revealed that mash-up group Super Mash Bros will open for hip-hop artist Wale and alternative rock group Neon Trees.

Each year the spring show artist is selected through a process that includes student surveys, discussion by the SUB music committee, and negotiations with possible artists that lead to the signing of a contract.

SUB Stage Chair, Senior Meaghan Britain, talks about the importance of the student survey throughout the artist selection process:

Students were excited about the announcement.

Elon Junior Scott Christopherson is looking forward to attending the show. “I’m excited about Wale and Super Mash Brothers because they are really good live,” Christopherson said.

In the months leading up to the concert, SUB Music Chair Lauren Leonard will be working closely with lighting and sound producers.

“The artists have a thing called a rider, which sets all of their specifications for lighting and sound. And then of course their hospitality stuff,” Meaghan Britain, SUB’s Stage Chair, said.

The show will be on May 6. Tickets are on sale now.

Student tickets are $20, and tickets for the public are $25.
